Oh where to start? I have loved photography my entire life and spent most of my high school days taking pictures, dropping them off to be developed at the nearest Walgreen’s (one hour, of course), and handing out doubles to all my girlfriends. Today my closets hold photo boxes with thousands of pictures that, to some, may seem a waste, but to me they are the storybook of my life. It was not until I was 26 years old that I felt the itch to take photography to a professional level. I had a dear friend, Jamie (see her BIO below) who knew about my passion and was willing to teach me all things photography. I loved all photography (well almost … I don’t dig the corporate and food stuff) but When working with couples I found my passion. The people expressing love, gazing into each others eyes, the LOVE BIRDS if you will … they got me. They lit me up! And the weddings … oh the weddings. I quickly realized there were so many precious moments that only my bride, my groom and myself were able to share. To me it seemed the pictures were the most important part because after the party was over, the food had been eaten, and the people were gone, the pictures are all we have. I am so thankful to all the wonderful couples that have trusted me to capture their intimate moments! I am honored each and every time I receive the opportunity to record these precious moments. I am truly blessed to be able to say that I am doing what I LOVE and LOVING what I do!

Remember when you were a kid and you said, “This {insert choice career} is what I want to be when I grow up?” For me, that was a photographer. I am not kidding. I even wrote a report about it in the 6th grade, and man what I wouldn’t give for a copy of that paper but alas it is long gone. Fast forward to today, I did it! I am a photographer and have been capturing amazing moments for over 12 years now and am literally living my childhood dream. My affection for weddings and boudoir are equal, just as a parent loves their two children, in fact you could say they are my babies! I have travelled the world with my work and have been featured in multiple publications such as Style Me Pretty, Arkansas Bride, The Lovely Find, Urban Style Blog, The Wedding Post, Love Bird Productions and more.

Outside of my work I love to cook, and I am pretty damn good at it!! (not to brag, but for realz, I’m awesome) There is just something about being in the kitchen with a room full of people and making them all happy with my creation that satisfies my soul. I am very much a “foody” and a health nut to bat. I read health and nutrition books like they are going out of style, and my collection of cook books is getting out of control. Whole body wellness is a big deal to me. I grew up a ballet dancer, and have dabbled in a bajillion things from CrossFit to cycling. Most recently I have fallen in love with Yoga and have become an instructor. (which brings that whole report I wrote in the 6th grade back full circle) Crazy how life spins around! I have always love to read, since I was able, and throughout school had my nose in a book. These days I just don’t have the time so I listen to audio books while processing images. Which has the added side affect of the characters taking on the faces of my clients… I really love to learn, I am always learning something. I most recently learned to play the piano, I even have a youtube page if you care to take a peek, but prepared to NOT be impressed. This year my husband and I are learning French! (Ha, we shall see how that goes) I do not watch TV and feel left out quite often in conversations because of this, but not enough for me to renew my cable subscription. I talk a lot. I love wine, it’s my favorite. If I were to pick one word to describe myself it would probably be vibrant.

I think that sums me up for now! If you would like to know more, check out my most recent work on my Blog, and feel free to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or YouTube!!

My name is Ashley Olberding, and I graduated from University of Memphis with my Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism in May 2014. I studied photography in Italy as well as interned for Southern Bride magazine during my collegiate career. Christen and I met when I modeled for Southern Bride magazine in the spring of 2014, and I loved her!

I’m passionate about people and their stories, and hope to bring those stories to life in my photos. I love scrapbooking, anything and everything Harry Potter-related, Netflix, and Italy.
