Ashley & Christopher
Where to begin! Normally when I blog a wedding I start off by talking a little bit about the couple. However, when you’ve known the bride for over 20 years and the groom is a friend as well it becomes hard to start! Ashley & I have known each other pretty much all our lives. We danced ballet together, went to grade school together, went to high school together, and remained friends even until now. She’s more than a friend … I consider her family. So when she got engaged to Christopher I knew I would be shooting her wedding long before she even asked me. That’s what’s great about having a best friend that’s a photographer right? I often joke with people that although I love my job sometimes I get sad that I never get to be a bridesmaid. I have once. Only once. That’s crazy! But after talking to Ashley in depth about her wedding and getting to help plan her wedding I realized that sometimes my role as their photographer is SO MUCH more than just a bridesmaid. Not to take anything away from all the wonderful bridesmaids out there … boy do you make the wedding day all that more special! Maybe it was just this wedding in particular … I don’t know. But I realized that there was no where else I was supposed to be that day then photographing this wedding. After all, I was still the one that got Ashley in her dress, and my beautiful daughter Abbey was the flower girl so I guess in another way I did get to walk down that aisle with her. Either way … I was meant to shoot this wedding. And I loved every bit of it … especially the couple 🙂
This is one of my favs! Â You can just see the joy on her face 🙂
My number 1 fav! This image just makes my heart happy. The color, the light, the way her dress falls, the kiss … all of it.
Another reason I loved shooting this wedding was the story that went with it. Â Ashley’s new husband, Christopher, is part of some real Memphis history. Â He is the nephew of Chris Bell, song writer, lead singer, and guitarist of the band Big Star. Chris was named after his uncle as matter of fact. Sadly Chris Bell passed at the young age of 27, and even though they never met, the connection between the two and among the family is palpable. Big Star recorded it’s top records at Memphis’ own Ardent Studios. Ardent has never hosted a wedding reception … ever. But for Ashley & Christopher it was the place! The place they would celebrate their marriage and dance their first dance as husband & wife.
Christopher’s mother is also the owner of another Memphis favorite … Mortimer’s Memphis. The couple shared some Memphis favorites at the reception!
The couple hired the very talented Ghost Town Blues Band. The kept the dancing going all night long!
Congrats to you Ashley & Christopher! Thank you for allowing me to take part in your special day in more ways than one!
